Paul’s Weekly Letter – 18 August 2017

Good Afternoon,

I spent this week furiously building another bathroom and closet, the last one, thank goodness.

We went to a Change of Command for the Army National Guard. We were invited and the girls needed a refresher in military ceremonies. Our governor gave a very nice speech. He talked about how in the military everyone is always coming and going and how they learn to say hello and goodbye. After moving every two or three years for a while I have to agree. Our two senators were there and gave speeches; nothing really memorable about either one. Afterwards I talked to Senator Heller and said we would love to host a debate between him and Danny Tarkanian. He didn’t look really excited, but I did ask. We then discussed endorsements and I informed him we would not be doing Pre-Primary endorsements. He asked about incumbents and I quickly said no. Thinking about it later on, I believe that is the absolute best answer I could give considering our no Pre-Primary policy. If you disagree please call or email, I would love to discuss.

On Tuesday Greg Bailor, the Executive Director of the GOP in Nevada was the guest speaker at the Republicans Women’s club meeting at the Nugget. Food was really good and so was Greg. He talked about how successful the GOP has been for the last couple of years even though our news media does everything in their power to deny it. And he’s right. Turn off the TV, enjoy life, nothing is going to change for a while and we have a long election season ahead of us.

Coming up next week (Thursday 6:30 at the old Silver State High School now Argent Academy) is our General Membership meeting. People from RISE marijuana dispensary will be speaking. I will be interested to see how they run their business and what challenges they face. This will probably be the last non politician speaker for a while, since election season is heating up.

The Basque Fry is Aug 26, Vice President Mike Pence, Senator Ted Cruz, Governor Susana Martinez and Matt Schlapp will be guest speakers. If you have not bought tickets please hurry they will sell out pretty soon. Here is the web address

Douglas County Republicans will be hosting the Heritage Day Ranch Day BBQ on Sep 30 from 12:00 to 4:00 at the Dangberg Ranch, I have not heard who the guest speakers will be but this is a really nice event we should support if you can Please visit the Douglas County Republican web Page for more info
