Paul’s Weekly Letter -1 February 2018

Good Evening,

We had a General Membership meeting last Thursday. Our Sheriff, Ken Furlong talked as he is running for reelection. Ken’s focus for the next three years are Traffic, Mental Health and Domestic Violence.

We also had Kaisia Klaus from Awaken speak about sex trafficking. Of course her goal is to eliminate the trafficking. I was really impressed with her and what she does for us here in Northern Nevada.

Andrew Quinn also talked a little bit about what he does, which is works for a non-profit registering voters and signing petitions outside our DMV here in Carson City. (please say Hi next time you are there) He mentioned that a lot of our kids and grandchildren that he see there have absolutely no idea what’s going on with politics. So please don’t be scared to do a little education with our youth as you encounter them.

We also gave Lori Bagwell a few minutes, she let us know, we (Carson City) are in the process renewing our trash contract for the city. This could significant change our lifestyle (mandatory trash pickup, mandatory recycling, etc) so please let her and the rest of the board know your opinion.

Sue Merriwether and Aubrey Rowlatt invited us to an open house at the County Courthouse Thursday Feb 22, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm to view our new voting system. They and the vendor will be there to answer questions and demonstrate the system.

We are getting close to our limit for the Lincoln Day dinner. We will have the majority of our elected officials there to discuss their plans and vision for the future. Please don’t miss this opportunity to see and interact with them. The food will be good too.
